Always lucky enough to have employers who got W-2 out by mid month. Only exception was in grad school when I worked part time for the state of New York. Deadline then was January 31. New York state made up their own deadline. I think it was somewhere around February 15.Retired now so I'm just waiting for 1099's. They all come well before January 31 but you have to be careful. Never had a problem with changes in mutual funds but this year I knew there was a problem with one company's dividends. Since they exceeded the company's taxable income, they were returns of capital. Didn't get my corrected 1099 until mid February.
