Spellcheck? ha,and ha. was typing that in the STORE while hubby was a few yards over buying this little reduced netbook that he's going to return because it has a password assigned and he can't get into anything.

So, anyway, I have this Asus (shall I name it Jasus?) and it has Windows 7, with 4 GB mem, 320 GB hard drive (and I only know this because the label is there next to the mousie pad).
First I discover Saturday night that I can't do ANYTHING until I make my backup copies of the system for recovery. Ok. So I guy some DVD's for that after church. That takes several hours. Then I realize that there is No Where to plug in a TELEPHONE (no modem) since it is from the latter part of this decade. Oh.
But I don't have wi fi out here (it will be great in the libraries & coffee shops though). So I talk DH into going to Fry's with me where we end up spending $40 for a USB modem, and more dvd's, and a lot of groceries at Big lots, et cetera. And a Mixed ethnic asian american buffet.

So by 10:20 tonight I managed to get on line with a lot of time on my cell phone with this guy in another country doing tech support.

I need to get to bed. I promised I'd work labor day. That will pay for, oh, 1/10 of the computer. But as I said to DH, that is what the student loan money was for. And I have it allocated in ING and haven't used it up yet.
And so it goes.

You have to go to one of the big super mega HEB's.
And tonight one of the cats sat on the computer while we were moving chickens. IT seems to shut down when you close it. This is what they are supposed to do? not sure.

anyway it did power up again, but I should keep the cat off of it.

As I understand it, most laptops will power off when the lid is closed. DD#2 is looking for one now for school. There are just way too many choices out there!

yes its a laptop. It did power off when the lid was catted, uh, closed. I need to take the thing to Campus (college, ACC) next week AGAIN and make sure I can get the IT folks to show me how to get to the net properly.

Oh yes, I'm still on dial up at home, the guy with the thing he was holding in a tree to try to find a signal, well he hasn't called back, oh whatever.

It likely did not shut down, but just went to sleep; that's what laptops are designed to do. If it goes to sleep while you have programs open, when you turn it back on, the programs should still be open.

It's fine. :)
