Do you mean Bush? None of this is his fault. And he has reacted to the overall situation as well as could be expected of anyone.

There are technological, social, and economic trends at work around the world that will overwhelm any government administration.

The big problem is not the loss of jobs, it is the rate at which we are losing them. Job creation continues at historical rates, but job loss - enabled by the internet and the growth of China - is causing jobs to vanish at an unprecedented rate. Net result; we lose over the short to intermediate term.

We do need to take a hard look at China. Our domestic labor force is competing against Chinese slave labor, and that clearly does not work to our advantage. OTOH, the best way to bring an end to Chinese slave labor is to trade with them and gradually compel them.

It is a hard problem and there is no easy answer. Protectionism won't work.
