And yet she was virulently anti-communist, pro free-market capitalism, and a great believer in individual rights. She's seems to be very popular with the libertarian wing of the conservative movement.

I consider myself somewhat of a fan. As a (small "L") libertarian, I think she should be free to spouse whatever opinions she likes. If I agree with 9, and disagree with 1, that doesn't make me think less of her.

Even great people have foibles and sometimes severe character defects.

MLK was a philanderer who regularly cheated on his wife. I seem to recall that he also plagiarized portions of his doctoral dissertation. Does that mean he didn't make great contributions to American society?
