AngelMay asks,

Why do you not own a home?
And where do you live?

Do you have a family?
And how satisfying do you find it living somewhere that you don't own? Never being able to change anything without permission seems confining to me.

Single and I live in Houston.

Although I could afford to pay cash for a large one, I'm not interested in accepting the burdens and hassles of owning a home. Also, my investments in the stock market have far outstripped what I could have made in Houston real estate, so I'm very pleased that I don't have any money tied up there.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you live in an apartment then?
And how do you tolerate the noise?

I truly do understand about having more money in your pocket by renting -- been there, done that -- but it's the privacy and noise issue that bothers me. Also, if I hate the carpet and want hardwood floors I can just rip out the carpet if I own my own house.

Anyway, was just wondering how you liked apartment living since I'm positive you could afford to live wherever you like. :)
