Well, not wanting to be the only one posting to this board who has not read Basin and Range I went to Amazon to order and discovered it was out of print. However, the recently pulished Annals of a Former World by McPhee includes Basin and Range along with 3 others : Suspect Terrain, Rising from the Plains and Assembling California and then , just in case the book wasn't already heavy enough for a door stop, adds Crossing the Craton. When it arrives (in a day or so knowing Amazon's speedy delivery system) I will go missing from the boards until it is read.

By the way GeoGoddess do you by any chance work for an oil and gas company? I know a lot of people who did their time in Oklahoma for either Phillips or Cities. I grew up in West Texas and while Oklahoma was considered doing time, Midland was considered doing 'hard time'. Sheesh...these peole who want a tree and blade of grass. I'm in Houston right now but am retiring at the end of the year and am looking forward to building adobe down around the Candelaria area in Presidio county. What a great deal: no light pollution at night and geology-in-your-face during the day!
