Does anyone know if it is possible to roll a 403b account containing an annuity into an IRA?I have been unable to locate any information on doing this so I would guess it is not possible. If it isn't possible, is it because it is a 403b or because it is an annuity?TIA!Harpo

If you contact your 403(b) custodian they should be able to tell you how to set up a direct rollover. For more info, see IRS Publication 571: http://ftp.fedworld.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p571.pdf
Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it.Harpo
[[Does anyone know if it is possible to roll a 403b account containing an annuity into an IRA?]]I'm not an investment guy, but I'm reasonably certain that this can be done. There are such things as IRA annuities, so there should be no problem with such a rollover. Now, as to the point if you really WANT to do this...that is entirely another issue. Having a tax deferral investment within a tax deferred account doesn't make a bunch of sense for a whole number of people. But it may be different for you.TMF TaxesRoySPECIAL NOTE: Remember that this response is not the "last word" on your situation. It is really only a starting point.
