I am about to retire and I have to decide whether to take a joint and survivor annuity or take a lump sum that I will rollover to an IRA. After reading information at The Motley Fool, I think I want to take a lump sum. However, I would like to be able to calculate which is the best for my situation.

My question -- Can you show me how to calculate this? I do not know how to do this? Can you give me an example?
