So Microsoft has another "Me better, him lousy" ad out, this time knocking the Samsung phone's picture taking ability. It is so bereft of creativity it's appalling, and it is unlikely to make any dent at all in sales.

Now you can do negative, or comparative advertising (think: "I'm a PC, He's A Mac" or "The Pepsi Challenge" or "Where's the Beef?") but it has to be clever if it's gonna stick, and it has to be memorable, or the results have to be so amazingly different to penetrate your brain, and it really really has do to more than "Me better, him lousy."

Whoever is in charge of Microsoft marketing should be replaced, their agency should be replaced, and Ballmer should be replaced. Other than that, Captain, don't worry about icebergs.
