Eclipsys Wins Significant Contract to Provide IT Outsourcing Services at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/041221/215089_1.htmlTuesday December 21, 7:30 am ETThe company announced today that it has signed a multi-year outsourcing contract with North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, the largest integrated health network in the Northeast. Under the terms of the contract, Eclipsys will manage and run the Information Technology (IT) operations for North Shore-LIJ-owned hospitals, which include network, desktop and distributed services, help desk support and problem resolution, as well as applications and mainframe systems services. As part of the transaction, approximately 180 employees that currently support North Shore-LIJ operations will be transferred to Eclipsys.North Shore-LIJ is the nation's third-largest, non-profit, secular healthcare system with a service area of 5.2 million people in Long Island, Queens and Staten Island. It is the largest employer on Long Island, with more than 35,000 employees, 7,000 physicians and 7,000 nurses. The health system has a $3.7-billion annual operating budget. The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System includes 15 hospitals; five long-term care facilities, a medical research institute, three trauma centers, six home health agencies and dozens of outpatient centers. North Shore-LIJ facilities house more than 5,328 beds. This is just speculation, but IF Long Island Jewish spends 4% of their budget on IT, which would be in line with industry averages, and IF they outsource ALL (another big IF) of their IT services to Eclipsys, it would translate to something like a $148M improvement in ECLP annual revenues. This could be a very big deal!Fred (stockholder)
