There is a book called Letting Go: A parent's guide to understanding the college years by Karen Levin Coburn and Madge Treeger. I think the most recent edition is the 4th (2003). I was looking for this book for someone a while back on another board and couldn't find it, but yesterday I moved some furniture and voila! the book appeared.

DH picked up a used copy of an earlier edition way back in 2002 and we read it then when DD was only a freshman in hs. Now that she will be a college sophomore in the fall (ack! I can't believe our baby is so old)
I may reread it this summer.
