Anyone else have experience "slowing down", only to find that they've got to "step on the gas" again at some point in the future? Did you move back to the "rat race" or just work harder at your chosen "escape"?

Since I hadn't planned the "escape"-I had gotten laid off my job--then rejoining the rat race seemed to be the best alternative at the time. Now I hoping to make next escape a planned one.
