anyone with the slightest bit of objectivity understands that it had everything to do with her politics,

How does this have anything to do with "politics"? For all she knew, she could have been handing the award to a film about Manic Depressives (Silver Linings Playbook"), or slavery (Django), or emancipation (Lincoln), or torture (ZD30) or any other political issue, some of which her husbands administration opposes.

it was set up by one of her biggest supporters in Hollywood.

For the same reason that Albert Einstein's letter to FDR wasn't sent through the mail, because having a connection is always better than having some Hollywood producer call up and say "I got an idea..."

So, O'Reilly was right. "Laura Bush would never at any time have introduced any award," he said.

Why not? What is the difference between a taped segment and a live one, or participating in a program extolling films and opening the envelope to award "the best one this year."? This seems a difference without a distinction, and the flapdoodle over it is just so much O'Reilly bloviating spittle.
