I'm trying to decide whether to pick up one of the frequent flyer credit cards, and was curious what everybody thought. Does it make sense?

Here's my situation. I have only one credit card, a Visa classic at 11.9%, through my credit union. I use the Visa all the time, for basically everything I purchase other than rent. This usually runs about $1500-$2000/month (remember this is almost all of my expenses). The nice thing is that I have an automatic payment setup with the credit union which pays off the balance in full every month. So I have zero debt currently.

Since I charge so much, I figure I should be able to make effective use of one of the frequent flyer cards, or cash back cards, or something. But losing the convenience of the automatic payment would be a problem for me. I also don't want to be locked into one carrier, since I generally fly whoever is cheapest. So it might not be worth it.

What do you think?
