Are the "II" versions of these lenses a huge improvement? Is there much of a market for heavily used older lenses?Yes there is, edge and near edge performance are vastly improved and they are darn sharp f2.8 thru about f10.. The old version one lenses have random sweet spots and are not consistent throughout the zoom range. The Ver II focusing is different and coupled with a 5d3 or 1dx and later camera yields are more precise focusing tolerance. It is there is real life but check out this article:http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2012/11/canon-24-70-mk-ii-va...One of the things I love about the 1D Mark IV is its performance in low-light situations. I can crank the ISO up to 3200 or so and still get very nice pictures. Hopefully the 1DX has retained or improved this performance?Yes both the 5d3 and 1dx are better at high ISO, and ISO 25,600 is very usable! You have a 1 stop advantage so you can up your depth of field or shutter speed by one stop. You have to decide if that is enough given the money you will spend.
