http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/02/us/how-local-taxpayers-ban...

good article by Louise Story on the haphazard manner in which
State, County, and local governments are handing out billions in
tax breaks to coporations.

the local government officials are totally mismatched in the "negotiations" over the terms of the incentives,
it is like taking candy from a baby.

the author of the article was interviewed by Terry Gross
of Fresh Air, which is broadcast by NPR. I know some of the
METAR participants consider NPR to be 1 step shy of a Socialist
organization, but the article in the Times, and the interview on NPR
seem fair-minded to me.
