As much as I want to cheer the democrats on, I sigh and realize that a great many of the democrats are no better than the republicans. My hunch is that they fear a reversal of fortune in the future when they may want the filibuster rules the way that they are.

What is desperately needed is campaign financing reform to curb the influence of big money on our leaders. Until then I think we are pretty well screwed. and should be grateful for the few crumbs of reform that we are able to wring out of them.
