Asset allocation is only a viable tool when used as a strategy to achieve carefully planned financial goals. Modeling the anticipated results of various strategies can help form goals, but, in and of itself, allocation is a method versus an end. I've not read the book you mentioned, but I've yet to find any book that properly covers the effects of time and annuity and how to consider them when planning an allocation strategy. Regards, pmcw
