At age 60, I am not sure I would go for a mutual fund that targets retirement in 10 or 15 years. You say DM is still working, but for how long> When does she want to retire, and does she have any other retirement savings? How much of her current income is she able to divert to retirement savings and how much debt is she carrying? How much of the original $50k is actually left? Are the fees associated with BoA front loaded, back loaded, or annual? The answers to these questions should qualify your options.
