At least I can get Czech Budweiser fairly easily.

Do you mean Budvar, aka Czechvar? If so, this it's unrelated to Budweiser: see

I regret not trying Budvar while I was in Prague last year; I assumed at the time that it was a high-octane version of Budweiser, which would be about what one would expect the 20-something slackpacker crowd that plagues Prague to drink. If recent posts to the REHP board are correct, Budvar is apparently good. Czechvar is the name under which it's distributed in the U.S.

Interestingn side note: I remember seeing a shop in Wien called "Budweiser"; it had nothing to do with beer. Apparently Anheuser-Busch isn't too aggressive about trying to prevent use of the Budweiser name under obviously non-competitive situations. Besides, like everything else in Wien, that shop probably predates the Budweiser beer.
