At least they had good, solid reasons for doing so.

Because they were making such a better return on their money with Madoff, they didn't want to liquidate the $6MM to buy him out so they stretched it out over time such that the payoff actually would just come from investment gains. It's genious, really.

So don't go being jealous just because the Mets ownership is so much smarter than everyone else.
