Because of a mix-up in my online billpay, my payment was a day late. Chase waived the late charge but clearly the finance charges will accrue.

Does anyone know if I can eliminate them by OVERpaying such that my average daily balance would be less than zero even though I had an outstanding balance for some time during the period ?

Put another way, if a statement period has 30 days and I have a $1000 balance for 15 days, then make a $2000 payment and have a negative balance of <$1000> for 15 days, would I owe a finance charge ?
