Avocado shortage hits California following heat and drought

A drought and excessive heat in California has made for a bleak avocado season

The drought pretty much ended last winter, as the state received large amounts of rain and snow (in the mountains). You might remember the Oroville Dam overflowing its emergency spillway in February, causing evacuations because officials were afraid of a much larger failure.

Nevertheless, avocado prices are indeed up. I enjoy my guacamole on a regular basis, and it is definitely more expensive to make lately.
