Back when I had AOL as my internet service, they gave a 10% discount for AARP members. At $24/month, I saved over $28 per year; more than twice the cost for AARP, so it was a no brainer. No longer have AOL. Most of my travel bookings are through internet sites such as hotels.com, which do not give any discounts. So, I no longer have any use for AARP.
And what's this about $5 per year; a one year subscription to AARP is $12.50; 5 year subscription will run you $8 per year.
