Bah... most of the reason this board is dying/isn't dying is because whether or not it's "killing a human being" is a matter of ethics/religion and has since it was made illegal ---Why shant it be made a matter of science?Saintcroix had a keen idea of defining when life begins by the same midical standards used to determin when life ends. Today, that means the brain. Medical science states that when one is brain dead, then one is dead. Life functions in the other cells are irrelevent to the question of is the person alive?; so, the answer to the question, When is a pre-natle baby a person vs. a thing, would be when the brain swithces on.That has been my definition ever since I saw a highschool biology video on chickens. Now I feel old :-(sss---The shepherd, (thats me) doesn't like capital punishment, because it represents us (the state/community) sinking down to the murderes level instead of maintaining moral superiority over him by refusing to take his life. Also, I like a startrek deep space nine episode, where a jemhadar commander kills his second over some minor transgression, then enquires as to why sisko didn't kill Lt. Warf who was also guilty of the same transgression. Sisko replied "Dead men don't learn from their mistakes."
