Balderdash.

Our military is staffed by highly trained civilians. That allows civilians everywhere the chance to ignore an illegal order. But by the same token, those with the finger on the buttons everywhere must not hesitate to push the button when called on to do so. They may not know if their missile is armed or if its a drill. A kind of Russian roulette with nuclear weapons.

But if they hesitate or take the time to check news reports or call the family to see what's happening out there, in a nuclear attack all can be lost.

This subject has been treated in movies repeatedly. On the Beach in particular, but there are others.

In the case of nuclear weapons, those trained to respond to an order to press the button must do so. If they hesitate, they must be replaced.

Adding politics and second guessing to this process can be devastating to our national security.

Wake up folks.
