For some reason this 2005 article appeared in my Google Alerts for today. Regardless, it's still an interesting look into thrift conversions, and it identified TFSL 2 years before it went public.

this Jim Grant talk from the Value investing conference is well worth your time. Towards the end he discusses thrift conversions as well
