Can someone recommend a decent text that introduces tax theory and concepts? Of course, if it could be written in the "MF Invesment Guide" style and attitude (hint hint, Tom and David), that would be great but not required. I am trying to understand the basic concepts of things such as tax brackets, first dollar earned, reducing and/or deferring income, perspectives on the relationship and intersection of investing and tax strategy, use of self-directed IRAs for sheltering income from a 2nd job, deduction strategies, and so on. I am assuming once one understands the basics, then the whole world of REALLY COMPLEX tax questions opens, which are more apropos to this board.

TIA for the help.
