DUESSELDORF, Feb 4 (Reuters) - A second rival anti-impotence drug to Viagra will go on sale in Europe by the middle of March, a spokeswoman for the German company behind the pill told Reuters on Tuesday.

Bayer AG (XETRA:BAYG.DE) plans to market its Levitra medicine, also known as vardenafil, with Britain's GlaxoSmithKline Plc (London:GSK.L) and hopes to generate peak sales of more than one billion euros ($1.1 billion) a year.

Levitra will compete with Pfizer Inc's (PFE) Viagra and also against Cialis, a new drug from U.S. firms Eli Lilly & Co (LLY) and Icos Corp (ICOS) that was launched in Britain, Germany and Australia this week.
