NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Bayer AG received Federal Trade Commission approval to sell its insecticide Fipronil Assets to BASF AG .

In a press release Friday, the German drug maker said the sale would fulfill part of a major condition required by the European Commission and the FTC for Bayer's acquisition of Aventis CropScience Holding in June. The purchase of the Aventis unit created Bayer CropScience, consisting of three business groups - Crop Protection, Bio Science, and Environmental Science.
