Be careful not to get remarried soon after getting divorced. While legally correct, the Infernal Revenue Service would look to the substance, not the form of the marriage and make you pay as a joint filer. Folks used to get divorced before year-end and get remarried a week later in the new year and the IRS but the kabosh on those kinds of transactions. And even if you wait to get remarried for a year or so, they could still come back and make you pay the taxes with penalty and interest, that is if they caught you, which is probably not very likely. They have bigger fish to fry.
