Be sure to read all the fine print on a reverse mortgage. A friend of ours had one on his home, but decided to move to a retirees community so he went to sell his home. He sold it for a good deal more than the loan was for, but the company he had the reverse morgage from took 50% of the gain. Consequently he is in a marginal financial situation.
