In my experience, "member benefits" are rarely better than if you buy them on your own, whether that be insurance from AARP or car rental deals from your alumni association.

I find it a little disappointing to learn that AARP is no longer "unbiased" in their opinion with regard to seniors. They now have a monetary incentive to push for legislation that helps their business models that have nothing to do with membership dues or advocacy.

They are becoming the NEA of seniors.
