Because this started over the poster who suggested I should make an exception to Girl Scouts when I showed the link to the "no solicitation" sign that's worked for me in cutting down on people who knock on my door.

I don't buy a lot of things - just like many on this board don't buy a lot of things - so why does it matter if I announce I no longer buy Girl Scout cookies?

It doesn't. Not really. But I think what I would have done would be to include a long list of other charity groups that sell door-to-door: the people who sell Christmas wrap, and giant chocolate bars, three flavors of popcorn, and so on. Or just ignored the comment.

I don't mean to keep going on and on about your post; I just wanted to explain that sometimes a quiet response, or ignoring the question, is a way to keep the board temperature down.
