Believe me, you are not alone.

To sell your bonds at the present prices and buy different ones will not achieve anything useful. Going forward, yes I expect to strongly favor GO's. As the economy improves, prices should come back. In my portfolio, the worst hit are hospital bonds--fortunately I don't have many of them.
2008 has been a really horrible year for investors, both stocks and bonds. Your prior asset manager likely wouldn't have done any better and you'd have had another fee to pay.
My advice is hold your nose and tough it out.
