Hi all,

I started poking around on TMF back in 1997, I believe, when I finally realized that I had to take control of my financial life. I officially became a screen name in I believe 2000.

At that point, I had had a collection agency after me, which had put a hold on my bank accounts, for a judgment against me. However, I never knew about the judgment, or any action against me, and the money that was due was actually due from my parents. But somehow in the translation, I was dragged in and my credit rating was f*#$ed up seemingly for the rest of my life.

I was then "starting out" after having taken out tremendous student loans for both undergrad and grad school.

Well, I have been seemingly very very good. I always pay my bills the day after I receive them - in full. The idea of any money payment stuff hanging out there haunts me.

I got one of those you-give-us-some-money-to-hold-and-we'll-say-you-have-a-credit-card-for-that-amount cards. Back then, I was ashamed of myself - even though that judgment fiasco was not mine, but my parents. But then slowly over the years they kept upping my limit, and I moved into preferred and then gold status. Now they are contemplating pushing me up to platinum, which supposedly never happens, because....

I checked my credit rating last week, and I do not know how horribly low it was back in 1997, when the judgment was entered, but as of two weeks ago, my credit rating was (and is) 784!

So yes, for all the people out there wondering if bad credit can be repaired through LBYM, IT CAN!!!!

Jenn
