I'm a newbie, so sorry if this is an already answered question or the wrong place to post. Point me.

Biomet(BMET) split 3 for 2 to shareholders of record as of 7/18/2000 to be distributed on or about 8/8/2000. Before it split it was trading at 30 something and now it is again (sorry, not looking at the exact numbers) . I can find no indication that the price dropped in relation to the split. Our investment club prez sez it dropped and went back up, but that seems like a big rise to me. Do I not understand splits? I thought the value remained pretty much the same in total (i.e., dropped per share) . Thanks for any help.

Lady Lou
