The schedule and theme for the BI Balls for 2001 is as follows:

The Valentine Ball
Week beginning 12th February.
Hearts and Cupid dress theme.
The featured song is Love Shack.
Long and cross bows to be left in the armory.

The Spring Equinox Ball
Week beginning 19th March.
Stonehenge and Druid theme.
The featured song is 'Here comes the Sun' by The Beatles.
Yew tree decorations to be done by our resident carpenter (We are currently looking for applicants for this position, if no one comes forward I shall have to rely on UKBB's chopper again).
Ewes not allowed.

BIS Birthday Ball
Special one-time two-day Ball to be lovingly held on the 3rd and 4th of April.
3rd April to celebrate the birthday of our board.
4th April to celebrate the first post to this board.
The featured song is The British Grenadiers.
A very special first Birthday bash for which all troopers are to wear their very special birthday suits in honour of the occasion, please try to have them ironed. ;-)

The Easter Ball
Week beginning 16th April.
Bunnies, Ducklings and Easter Egg theme.
The featured song is Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail.
Guest of honour - The TMF lamb.
There will be a traditional egg hunt, followed by egg rolling.
Don't forget to wear your new Easter bonnet. There will be our Easter Parade on the Parade Grounds at 1100 (weather permitting).
(We will not succumb to allowing a sacrificial spring lamb with mint jelly no matter how much you plead for one).

The Maypole Ball
Another special one-day event on the 1st of May.
Ribbons, Flowers and Pole theme.
Featured song is The Lusty Month of May.
Could we have some volunteers for the Morris Dancing this year please?
(I daresay this will be a popular ball).

The Summer Solstice Ball
Week beginning 18th June.
Summer Solstice Ball with a Solar Eclipse @ 7:05 am EST.
Theme to be Avebury and Beaker Folk.
Featured song is Aquarius.,5716,14103+1+13926,00.html

The 7th of April Ball
Another special one-day celebration on the 4th of July.
Remembrance of the 4/7/00 campaign so successfully executed by our own special trooper iccy.
Tolstoy theme for the day!
Featured song is Back in the USSR.
Guest of Honour - Sapper iccy.
All salutes and toasts will be in Russian.

Dogs Days of Summer Ball
Week beginning 13th August.
Bathing suits and Panama Hats to be the theme.
Featured song is In the Summertime.
We will cavort in the soon-to-be newly constructed HQ olympic-size regulation pool.

TGTTSIO(awwtPwshaafu) Ball
Week beginning 10th September.
Tacky tourist clothes required for this ball.
Featured song is Leaving on a Jet plane.
The TGTTSIO (awwtPwshaafu) (Thank Goodness the Tourist Season is Over(and why won't that Peil woman stay home and away from us)) Ball is held to celebrate the ending of the holidays. All troopers are encouraged to bring their holiday snaps, the most silly will win a prize.

Gaining an Extra Hour of Sleep Ball
Week beginning 22nd of October.
Pyjamas, Blankies {blankets} and Teddy Bear theme.
Featured song is Time is on My Side.
I expect all posters to contribute part of their extra hour to posting on BI.

Remembrance Ball
A one-day ball on the 11th November in memory of those who served.
Dress uniforms or 3 piece suits for men. Dress uniforms or tailored outfits for women.
There will be 2 minutes silence at 11am GMT. Poppies will be available.
Featured song is Amazing Grace.

Toga Party
Week beginning 19th of November.
Featured song Fat Bottomed Girls.
Costumes to be provided for all. Extra mirrors to be hung for effect.

The Holiday Ball
These very special balls run from 26th December 2001 until 2nd January 2002.
Gowns for the ladies, top hat and tails for the men and dress uniforms for the troopers.
The famous BIS Holiday Balls return with Yule log, festive dishes and decorations. If you only attend one ball this year, this is THE one.
Featured song is Happy Christmas.
