BJ's: Beyond Just Statistics

Earlier this week, Fool readers were treated to two opposing views of BJ's Wholesale Club (NYSE: BJ) as a business -- and as a stock as well. On Monday, previewing the company's Tuesday earnings release, I described a local BJ's store in perpetual disarray, poorly staffed, with lots of missing stuff. The next day, my Foolish compadre, Stephen Simpson, rejoined that he loved his local BJ's (rotting garbage in the produce section notwithstanding).

What really got my attention about Stephen's piece was his observation that his local BJ's (in North Carolina) trounced what around here in Northern Virginia is considered the Cadillac of wholesalers: Costco (Nasdaq: COST)...
