David Price joined this group yesterday - black pitchers who won 20 games in a season. There are 14 others. Name them.

If so, then add Pedro Martinez.

I know that a list like this will have its shortcomings, and Martinez is one such example. None of these guys on my list are Hispanic.

Another glitch is multiracial players. How much black would be enough to be considered black for this list? 50%? 25%

After reviewing the list all of these guys (with the exception of Ferguson Jenkins - a Canadian) are 100% African-American to the best of my knowledge.

On the Mike and Mike show, it always seems that Roy Oswalt is the answer to any trivia question they miss, so based on that theory, I will say

Roy Oswalt.

Roy Oswalt

Mr Oswalt has indeed won 20 games in a season, but unless he has undergone an ethnicity transplant, he fails on the other criteria.

Either you guys are Googling, or you're good. If left to my own devices I probably coulda gotten ten or so.

Two more to go.

Hint: One of them pitched under Billy Martin's management, and the other one had his best days in SF.

When I was a kid, we had a Sports Illustrated baseball game with teams from the 1971 season, and I remembered that Downing was a monster in that game -- and a 20 game winner that year.

Didn't Downing also give up either Aaron's 714th or 715th HR?

I really detest this kind of list, partially for the reasons you mention above.

But one question for you -- how could you know that ANY of these guys are 100% African-American? Did you do some kind of geneology search on their parents and grandparents?

Yeah, I'm nit picking but I'm just ticked with lists of any kind by "race".

Gimme a break.

This was just meant to be a fun exercise in baseball history and recognize the black pitchers who won 20 or more games in a season.

The rest of the answers:

Sam (Toothpick) Jones
Mike Norris

I didn't think of the concept... a black man did.

Gee, why don't you tell us how you really feel?

I'm not going to report your post (even though it is a personal attack) as I think it should stand to show how you react to other people's personal opinions.

I acknowledged that I was nit picking but I stand by my comments about lists by "race", regardless of who creates them.
