Bogey: your persistence and compassion is inspiring to me
I think that part of Nigel's "persistence and compassion," as well as many other Apple Fools in this regard was/is that the censor action was taken against two longtime posters on the Apple Board.
To use your own analogy If someone comes into our pub and starts hurling insults at the rest of the customers (and ruins the experience for those around him) then we'll kindly ask them to leave. Instead, when two of your longterm customers get into an argument you should warn them to tone it down prior to throwing down the gag order.
These two Fools were/are well known within the Apple Pub, and the action taken was felt to be excessive and hasty. I, personally, also felt that the justification given on this Board was inadequate and that the it's the Rulescomeback was weak. If, on the other hand, an explanation was given that included a (third party/i.e. different perspective) review of the action itself, I think that this matter would have been put to bed much earlier.
Even though I was not afforded the opportunity to read the subject posts because of the censorship, based on my participation on the Board I doubt that these two posters incensed each other or others to such a degree that this was necessary.
Aside from this, keep up the good work!
Paul
