My wife had the car today and thus picked me up from work. Just before quitting time she calls me and asks if we had a jack. Yup, flat tire. It happened just before she got to work so she made it there. We have AAA (who have far better jacks than the crappy standard one in the trunk) so I called them. The tow truck was there remarkably fast given it was the start of rush hour and they got the donut on in minutes.

So them we looked at the tire. It shouldn't have failed, the nubs are still visible on it. And it didn't fail... she ran over a screw. It hit at the edge of the tread and went through the tread and the sidewall. Of course!

We do have pro-rated road hazard coverage so it shouldn't cost a fortune. It's only an $81 tire anyhow. Just not something I was looking forward to happening. But nobody was hurt so I'm not all that upset. Meh, stuff happens.
