Greetings,
I'm looking for recommendations for some books. I'm not even sure how to describe the subject I'm looking for in a few keywords so my search results haven't been very focused.
I'm an EE who's always worked in a casual R&D environment. First for a university, currently for a government contractor. Our work has generally been to develop prototypes but rarely to transition those to any kind of manufacturing volumes.
I'm trying to change the culture and move us to a more formal engineering environment. I know a little bit of what's involved but would like a couple of good books that explain things in detail. Something that would cover the subjects of part numbering systems, formal documentation procedures, ECO's, etc. I'm not looking to implement a full ISO9001 system, but just some sort of structure to get us away from the chaos of designs being implemented differently by each engineer. I want us to become a "grown-up" R&D/manufacturing company but we're currently a long ways from that.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Wot
