brewerThere is certainly wasteful spending in the military just like there is in other gubmint expenditures. My question was more on the absolute size of the military and related spending than to do with waste/fraud/whatever. Its not clear to what we get for our money by, for example, maintaining bases in western Europe. Similarly, I would be hard-pressed to point to tangible benefits for the average citizen or the country as a whole stemming from our adventures in Iraq and Afghan. But these things sure did run up the budget and debt. Well feldercarp! I'm back in the camp of thinking the world IS going to end on 12/21 again.Brewer and I agree on something! <g>decath
