Bruce, thank you for your reply. Yes, I did include state taxes on my schedule A. I also included the property taxes and mortgage interest, from my closing statement. I didn't have points, because my credit union has a first time home-buyer program I was able to get into, which made all the difference for me.

I did think about paying my taxes for 1/00 in December, but decided not to, just to make things tidier in my paperwork.
