Buffett didn't buy it for Berkshire first but he certainly bought lots of Apple himself, for Berkshire.
He has stated that he bought lots of Apple and it is a $20B position -- That'd be about 85% of what the T's manage together.

Thanks for the correction. I (loosely) follow the Berkshire board and remember that it was one of the two T's who bought it originally, but did not catch up with the fact that the position had increased so greatly as to be too large for them to have been solely responsible.
