but I don't do tuxedos (except for VERY special circumstances...like my wedding). I also strongly resist ties (even the bola ties of the southwest, where I live). Ties are for interviews.

ChiliSpouse agrees with you. On the Alaska cruise, we ate at one of the other restaurants onboard on formal night.

We are doing one more cruise in 2013, the Russian River Cruise on Viking Cruise Lines, and I just checked again: there are no formal nights. Dress is casual. There might be "dressy casual" events (Captain's reception), but attendance is not required. CS would never have considered any other kind of cruise, unfortunately.
