Not to go all elementary school on you, but you started it (at least online). She is reacting to what you put out there. She is defending herself from your general impression that she was lazy, which if what she writes is the truth (which you acknowledge) she obviously is not.

You are hung up on the 'real job' thing. If she is working that much at 10 bucks an hour, that is likely to be a better deal all around for the family than a starbucks job would be. If she could even get 40 hours at less than 10 bucks an hour, which would probably be difficult.

And you say all this about her being lazy, but you have apparently been taking summers off for years, rather than working which most teachers I know do, unless they are mothers providing full time child care for their kids. Maybe that's what you've been doing, I don't know. I think your idea of your wife's contribution to your finances seems skewed to the negative and maybe you should reset it. Changing your language is the first step in changing your attitude.
