But we as a society have the responsability to be compassionate to those in need.
It seems that most people on this board are missing that.
Ah, but is it compassionate to teach people that legally sanctioned stealing is acceptable so they can fulfill their desire to bring another poor baby into the world? Where is the compassion in that? History has shown repeatedly that giving money to poor people has a detrimental effect on the lives of both the contributors and recipients. It only produces more poor people. How can you justify that? That's not compassion, it is selfishness! It is selfishness on the part of the poor prople who have babies they can't afford and it is selfishness on the part of society that doesn't have the guts to cut off the finger that is poisoning the rest of the body.
A society that fails to reward citizens who act responsibly and fails to punish citizens that act irresponsibly is a society in decline. It is heading to a crisis point where the responsible will rebel against the irresponsible. People think that revolutions occur because the "haves" have more than the "have nots". That's backwards. Revolutions occur because governments unjustly hold responsible individuals accountable for the irresponsible actions of others. It is not compassionate to allow this to happen.
