Hi everyone. As you probably already know, this board was started in response to the Christmas Project that happened last year. A few Fools have already begun emailing me about this year's plans, so as the holidays approach, I thought I'd get a jump-start on things.

First, I think we should run this year's project from this board. After all, it's why we started this board, it's on-topic here, and it's off-topic everywhere else. It will also be extremely helpful to have one centralized location for project information.

Last year's project was a ton of work, and there were less than 20 fools involved. If we get more than that number this year, I had an idea for how we might run it: I would go to the Post Office and collect letters, and then post the content here (in individual posts). This would save me the trouble of taking down people's preferences (e.g. girls vs. boys, certain ages, etc.) - people could just respond as they wished. The first person to respond to a particular letter would take on that child or family. Just like last year, you could send me a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and I would mail to you the original letter.

Last year, I actually delivered all the gifts (except for one blessed fool, who mailed hers). This year, I could do that again IF sadiekillmouski makes good on her offer to help. However, if a truly large number of folks respond, I think we might just have to resort to shipping. What do you think? I can't figure out how to do it.

Finally, please start to pass the word along to other boards that we're starting up again. You can direct them to this board and this post. If there are new and interested Fools, you can send them these links:

My mid-project update:

And the project's wonderful results:

Also, let the new folks know that gift recipients do appreciate gently used clothing and toys, so they don't have to purchase anything expensive or brand new.

Please spread the word far and wide to all the boards you know, and PLEASE post your suggestions and ideas for how to pull this off this year. I need help!!

I'll be away through November 1st, and unable to post until then. See you after that!

Hugs to all,
